The Amazing Healing Power Of Sleep

I woke up feeling much better today. Never underestimate the healing powers of sleep (+ proper food!). I am always amazed by the impact physical state has on emotional state- anyone else noticed this? When I am getting adequate nutrition and rest, my thoughts are so much clearer and mood so much brighter. It's a vicious cycle when I start restricting because inevitably my sleep patterns become more disrupted leading to deeper depression/fuzzier thinking leading to falling back into old coping skills (more restricting)...it's definitely something that is easier to prevent in the first place than pull myself out of!

Work induction went well. Everyone seems really nice and am all set to start next week. There are a couple new projects starting up so it's going to be really busy- I'll just be there one morning a week initially doing admin work, then I'll increase my hours and be working more in the marketing/PR department.

In EXCITING NEWS (!), I am planning my trip to New York and can't WAIT. I am beyond excited. Dates yet to be confirmed, but I'm looking at the last week in August and first two weeks in September. Blogger meet-up anyone?

And some other oh-so-exciting stuff (who am I kidding? :P )-

Breakfast:

Banana oatmeal (oats, vanilla, mashed banana, milk) with frozen raspberries and white chocolate peanut butter. I missed my pumpkin oats- these raspberries were REALLY sour, despite the sweetness of the banana and peanut butter. I think breakfast is my favourite meal of the day- most people I know eat the same stuff for breakfasts most days (cereal and/or toast) but for me it's when I am most creative and try lots of new combinations. I also eat really early (wake up around 5:30, drink coffee then eat) so I am usually calm and the outside world is quiet and peaceful. What's your favourite meal of the day and why?

Snack:

Mini chocolate chip Clif bar spread with 1/2 tbsp white chocolate peanut butter. Peanut butter twice in one day? Why not?!
Lunch:

Mexican bean pate and tomato sandwich. A new find! The pate was really good but somewhat unspreadable and stayed in a big slab despite my efforts to mush it around. Tasted great though! I just noticed that almost all my meals today have been BROWN. At least my sour raspberries added a splash of colour if nothing else!

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday so far- weekend is almost here! What have you got planned?

The food looks great. Peanut butter is a staple.

I've got a weekend planned on the boat. Heading out on Saturday morning and then sailing to an anchorage where I'll spend the night and then walk on the beach. It's my favorite weekend thing to do.

Hooray for sleep!! I would imagine I'd function a lot better if I were adequately rested / nourished, but as I never seem to get the balance right, that has yet to be determined. :p

I WOULD say my favorite meal of the day is breakfast, because I am a cereal freak and it's early and nobody else is around... but I'm usually just too rushed to enjoy it! So I'd have to say dinner, provided I'm home alone.

As for this weekend... I am way excited to read the newest Jodi Picoult book, which is FINALLY ready for me to pick up from the library. I am a hopeless nerd.

Oh how exciting about New York! I have never been before but it's definitely a place I hope to make it to one day!
Oatmeal IS exciting to me :)
I think my favorite meal is dinner. Not only do I just love the savory foods of dinner, I think it's the most sociable meal to enjoy with friends and family. I love big family dinners :D

I'm so excited for you to travel to NY!

I think breakfast is my favorite meal of the day as well. I love cereal and fruit and yogurt and milk. I usually have cereal as snacks too :) I'm a breakfast addict, but need to step outside the box a little more.

You eats look amazing! Loving your sandwiches. Let's keep making monsters, yeah?

Have a beautiful Thursday -
Love,
Lexi

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day too. I virtually always have porridge but I vary what I put in it, so it's predictable enough not to get my ED in a mess but different enough not to get boring. Yay for oats!
I'm glad to hear your work induction went well, and that you're feeling better for having slept properly. I'm always surprised at how much better I feel for getting back on track after a few days of insomnia or crappy eating. You'd think it would have ceased to shock me so much by now, but nope :P I just don't learn!
I hope you're having a good evening :)

NYC TRIP!! Oh if I could join you I'd be the happiest girl on the planet, I LOVE NY! My fave meal of the day is dinner, but probably not for a good reason: I tend to "save up" my calories for night time so it's my most hearty and tasty meal. I think it's great that you find peace during breakfast, I love being up early and feeling how still it is! I'm so glad that you're feeling better today, and that work went well!
